POLAREX BG CLUB

In beginning of 1996. Polarex Belgrade Club is established with an idea to raise public awareness for and establish Sleddog Sport in Serbia & Montenegro. Knowing how beautiful our mountains are with cold winters, plenty of snow and good trails for this kind of sport, and also considering today's dogs population, it's obvious that we have good potential for sport that bring together traditional way of life with sleddogs in new era with improved Veterinary medicine and feeding, equipment and way of treating dogs in general.

First three years we organized our musher workshops and training different dog teams introducing new friends into the sport and enthusiasts. We organized our first International Sleddog race, at mt. Kopaonik 1999., winter training camps at mt. Kopaonik 1994. and mt. Durmitor 2000. and visited Sleddog Training Camp for Juniors in Poland 2001. In August 2002. we held our first Sleddog Sport Seminar and our second International Sleddog race at Palich in December 2002. We plan to organize first SCG training camp for Juniors in June 2003.

We got to the point of joining the world's family made of countries with desire to raise this sport to a level of official sport at Winter Olympic Games. Serbia (SCG) has a status of country that need help, connected with Eastern European Cup/Championship project.

With all our activities our club is trying to bring more popularization to this unique sport, which at professional level mean special life style with complete dedication to dogs who has treatment like any professional athletes.

Scooter, Skijoring, Bikejoring, Cart, Pulka and Canicross are few ways of connecting youth with sport and dogs from 1-2 to more than ten dogs in team, and new challenges because all they got to do is get involved with happenings around them, races and trainings with dogs in nature, woods or on open, during winter at mountains on frozen fast trails.
