TRAINING CAMP POLAND 2001.
IFSS with Open Union of Sleddog Sport Association, Poland,
during September have organized Junior training camp, at
far northwest of Poland, in old school building in village
Przymuszewo. Polarex BG had representative, Aleksandar Nikolic
as an sleddog trainer and musher instructor. More than twenty
Poland juniors visited camp with their 3-8 dog teams, equipment,
carts, best Poland musher Bartek Gadziomski and most improved
musher that season in sprint races in Poland Ania Bayer
and two boys from Ukraine.
First training was every morning in 6h, and later in 9h dogs were fed for first
time in day, because these are preparations for sprint races where dogs eat twice
a day, for faster metabolism. After breakfast Edward Schumet, Slovenia
and I would go for long bike ride for our own conditioning and in afternoon Edo
would run with juniors Canecross and myself would work with theirs lead dogs on
improvement and trainability. Trails are found in nearby woods made of rare pine
and birch trees with sand as an ideal base for dogs. After runs, in local lake
we would swim special dogs under special regime by dr. Veterinary medicine Gosca
Szmurlo. If weather conditions allow we would do evening training, and than feeding
and resting. After short walk with dogs before sleeping we had musher meetings
with talk about teams work, training and make plain for tomorrow : long or short
gallop, short power training with two kids in carts, or leader training with lots
of turns, or facing teams, passing or few teams in group, night trainings or day
off. Point was in expanse of youngsters experience, which would bring
success to them and to the sport. |
